Cake Holes and Butt Holes
When they opened their doors, they had inquiries if they catered splosh parties. They didn’t cater that event, but 10 years later, they hosted their very own sploshing event. It was a cake-sitting party. They held an open call for participants through social media, and welcomed the whole array of butts from hairy to peachy to pert to baggy. And surprisingly, they were overwhelmed with responses of people wanting to spend the weekend squishing cakes and jellies between their ass cheeks.
The project, Cake Holes, explored the strange underbelly of food and eroticism and took place in London in October of 2016.
The Bompas & Parr creative team came up with some elaborate cakes and jellies for the event. There were a huge variety of confections and each model got to choose their own edible cushion, including Victorian Sponge Cake, Dreamy Creamy Fruit Cake, Pink Cotton-Candy Cake, Red Velvet Cake, Black Forrest Gateau, Pineapple Jelly, Cherry Meringue, Raspberry Nipple Jelly, and Slippery Ice-Cream Cake.
Cake Crushing Should Be a Sport
Fashion photographer Jo Duck collaborated with them, and interviewed participants and captured the moment their naked bodies and retrospective desserts collided. Each participant was asked questions which included what is their favorite cake, how do they make themselves happy, the best thing they can bake and why is it good, the most memorable cake of their life, and if you could do one thing to change the status quo, what would it be and why. Many commented on the texture of the cake and one model suggested cake-crushing should be made into a sport
Satisfying Sounds of Cake Sitting
Cake sitting is a subcategory of sploshing that specifically uses cakes and other desserts in their sensation play. But, not all sploshers are cake sitters. Owner Sam Bompars describes it best. “When a freshly chilled cake first touches your behind, you can’t help but let off a range of squeamish noises. Also, the surprisingly satisfying sound of a bum squashing a meringue is one sound I never thought I would come across, nor will I ever forget.”
The Cake Hole photo series is very eye-catching, irresistible, and bizarre at the same time. It’s men and women stripping down, and about to sit down or sitting on cakes and jellies, squashing layers of thick icing, soft sponge, and wobbly jelly with their butts. It brought a very specific fetish into the public realm and educated the masses about sploshing. The project was covered by major news sources, like The Sun, The Mirror, UK’s Design Week, LAD Bible, and Refinery 29.
